Nigerians risk 10 years in prison, 5m fine for skipping national anthem

The bill, sponsored by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, was read in the chamber for the first time on July 23, 2024. Under the proposed legislation, individuals who refuse to recite the national anthem face a fine of ₦5 million, a 10-year prison sentence, or both.
